This is very famous quote which is know by every individual but still every individual expects which in turn leads to disappointment and once disappointed your are gradually dissatisfied. From my studies I came to know that Disappointment is a subjective response. It highly depends person to person because not everyone expects the same results. The psychological results of disappointment vary greatly among individuals; while some recover quickly, others mire in frustration or blame or become depressed. While not every person responds to disappointment by becoming depressed, almost always be seen as secondary to disappointment/frustration. But a prolonged disappointment can leave a person in fatal depression. which can badly hurts your brain's efficiency as well as your health.
Disappointment, and an inability to prepare for it, has also been hypothesized as the source of occasional immune system compromise in optimists. While optimists by and large exhibit better health, they may alternatively exhibit less immunity when under prolonged or uncontrollable stress, a phenomenon which researchers have attributed to the "disappointment effect". Disappointed individuals focus on "upward counterfactuals"—alternative outcomes that would have been better than the one actually experienced—to the point that even positive outcomes may result in disappointment. All your positivity is lost some where.
After knowing all these adverse effects of disappointments people should be very careful about what to expect from others and what to expect from himself and then train his mind in such a way that he expects only things which he knows up to a point will be satisfied. This trick can help us use our expectations in a positive way to get spiritual happiness.
